We’ve been using the Hottop to roast the green bean samples by which we select the coffees Toby’s Estate will buy. When you choose 18 tons of coffee based on a 300 gram sample, it’s very important to get an excellent roast!

Fantastic Service, Great Communication and Great Product
After meeting and chatting to Greg at Coffee Experience in Melb, I was really keen to get one of his high quality tampers. One thing led to another and I also found myself with a Gene Roaster :) For my price range this was what I wanted, besides the limitations around cooling the beans, this little roaster is fantastic. Giving you many options in profile and temp control.
Done a few roasts now and it is a joy to use.

Superb customer service
I bought a tamper from Greg in 2003 and always remembered his prompt and helpful emails and friendly, professional attention to customer service. I'd been researching a replacement for my air roaster for some time and discovered that he was now selling Hottops. This made the decision very easy and I'm pleased to report the same high level of service.
Robin answered my emails almost immediately with plenty of information and he made a special effort to test and ship the equipment before a long weekend.
I've been roasting for quite a few years now with poppers, air roaster, heat guns etc but have always wanted more control and consistency. I have just finished my first roast on the Hottop and it exceeded my expectations - quiet, almost no smoke, plenty of scope for fine-tuning and it was all logged on my laptop.

What a great little roaster! I am thrilled to bits with this little gem. After doing some research on home roasters. I was looking to purchase the Gene Cafe, because of its size & price. I am pleased I came accross the "Hottop".
My 1st roast in the Hottop, was fantastic! The coffee smelt fresh, & tasted great too. I wish I still had my cafe, as my customers would enjoy the roasting process. I am a Barista, & roasting my own coffee gives me great pleasure, to enjoy the whole coffee experience - from green bean to cup!

Through no fault of Things Coffee, my initial order could not be processed. The roaster I wanted had a fault, and it was only due to their thorough quality control that the fault was detected. Despite this not being the fault of Things Coffee, I was offered a great deal on another roaster as a consolation. The communication was fantastic and I got the feeling that Things Coffee really wanted to make sure I was happy, rather than simply "getting the sale". The deal on the Hottop was fantastic and I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Brilliant, as expected
Although new to coffee roasting, I had researched the subject fairly extensively, and had narrowed the choice down to Gene Cafe (price) and Hottop. Being able to purchase both in Australia was a huge leap forward for me. Noise levels and interaction with the roasting process influenced my decision to purchase the Hottop B. Quick and helpful responses to a couple of emails gave my a good idea of the type of service I could expect from the supplier.
I have just completed my second roast in the machine, and have found it easy to use following the sample roast profile provided. Results are brilliant! I already have a friend lining up to purchase one.
Well done to all at "thingscoffee" for making this product available from Australia and for your high level of service.
